Due to both its appearance, and the fact that it was relatively expensive, this proved to be an unpopular pattern which did not sell well, and it was withdrawn in 1980. Scarce. Frank Thrower for Dartington Glass, pattern FT52, 'Head' vase known as 'Ugly', which first appeared in the 1968 catalogue in three colours - Flint, Kingfisher, and Midnight, but the pattern was withdrawn after a limited production run, and are therefore now considered to be fairly uncommon. This example is further distinguished by being made in the later Cobalt Blue colourway, and very few examples in this colour are known to exist. Very scarce. 23 cm £80-120
