A rare EMGinn Expert gramophone, a unique Expert Senior gramophone, with electric motor, four-spring Expert soundbox on Quinke-tube tone-arm and 28-inch papier-appliqué horn (with removable black cloth cover to mouth), in dark mahogany floor standing cabinet on claw-and-ball feet with ornate fretted door fittings and HMV 'air' lid-stay, the doors enclosing space originally containing a radio receiver, using the horn as a speaker (no visible sign of mounting the moving coil unit in the horn; possibly it fitted on the tone-arm, in place of the soundbox). The original radio panel is visible in an illustration in 'Gramophones, Acoustic & Radio' (Webb & Wilson, 1932). Ginn used the gramophone in an advertisement to demonstrate the availability of one-off cabinets (see Frank James, 'The E.M.G. Story', p. 69). The black horn cover is said to have been made from Mrs. Ginn's black-out cloth.
